Market News

New in FinyxFin 3.1. This guide explains where Market News headlines come from, how to add or remove feeds, and how to find and read a story.

📱 Overview

Market News is a built-in headline reader inside Investments. It follows one or more RSS/Atom feeds and shows their latest headlines right inside FinyxFin, with each story's source and publish time, and a link back to the original article on the publisher's own site.

â„šī¸ Headlines Only, Never Rewritten

FinyxFin shows each feed's title, summary, source, and publish date exactly as published, and always links back to the original article on the publisher's site. Nothing is mirrored, paraphrased, or reformatted — tapping a story opens it at the source.

📡 Where Headlines Come From

Every headline is labeled with its source directly under the title, and a banner at the top of the list tells you at a glance which feed(s) you're currently following — tap that banner any time to open Manage Feeds.

Out of the box, Market News follows Yahoo Finance's own RSS feed, fetched directly from finance.yahoo.com rather than a third-party re-wrapping of it.

âš™ī¸ Adding & Removing Feeds

Tap Manage Feeds — either the toolbar icon or the info banner at the top of the list — to open your feed list.

Adding a Feed

  1. Tap Manage Feeds
  2. Under Add a Feed, enter a Name (anything you like, e.g. "Bloomberg Markets") and the feed's URL
  3. Tap Add Feed

FinyxFin accepts any well-formed http(s) RSS or Atom feed URL — it isn't limited to a specific list of publishers. Check the publisher's own site for their RSS link (often in the footer or under "RSS"/"Feeds").

Removing a Feed

In Manage Feeds, swipe to delete (iPhone/iPad) or use the row's delete control (Mac) on any feed in Your Feeds, including the built-in Yahoo Finance feed.

â„šī¸ Your List Never Ends Up Empty

If you remove every feed, FinyxFin automatically brings the default Yahoo Finance feed back the next time you open Market News, so the screen never gets stuck with nothing to show.

âš ī¸ Feeds Are Saved on This Device Only

Your feed list is stored locally and doesn't sync via iCloud yet — if you add or remove feeds on your Mac, your iPhone and iPad keep their own separate list. Cross-device sync for this setting is planned for a future version.

📖 Reading a Story

Tap any headline to open the full article. On iPhone and iPad, it opens in an in-app Safari view you can dismiss with a swipe; on Mac, it opens in your default browser. Pull to refresh (iPhone/iPad) or use the refresh control to re-fetch the latest headlines from all your feeds.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use any news site's RSS feed?
Yes — any well-formed http(s) RSS or Atom feed URL works. FinyxFin only validates that the URL is well-formed, not that it belongs to a specific provider.
Q: Will my feeds show up on my other devices?
Not yet. Your feed list is currently saved per device, so feeds you add on your Mac won't automatically appear on your iPhone or iPad. Cross-device sync is planned for a future release.
Q: Why can't I see any headlines?
Check your internet connection and pull to refresh. If a feed URL has changed or gone offline, open Manage Feeds and remove or replace it — the built-in Yahoo Finance feed automatically returns if your list is ever empty.
Q: Does FinyxFin rewrite or summarize the articles?
No. Titles and summaries are shown exactly as published by the feed, with source attribution and a link back to the original article — FinyxFin never mirrors or rewrites the content.
Q: Is Market News available on the free plan?
Market News is a premium feature, gated the same way as the rest of the Investments tab.
