Cash Flow Forecast

New in FinyxFin 3.1. This guide explains how Cash Flow Forecast projects your balance days or weeks ahead, what drives the projection, and how the optional AI Outlook summary works.

📱 Overview

Cash Flow Forecast is a read-only planning screen that answers one question: if nothing changes, where will my balance be in the days ahead? It starts from your current active accounts and walks every upcoming bill, income, and transfer forward through your chosen time window, plotting the result as a projected balance line — so you can see if and when you might run low before it happens.

â„šī¸ Nothing Is Written or Changed

This screen only reads your existing accounts and scheduled items. It does not create, modify, or delete anything. Calculations and projections are estimates for planning purposes and should be reviewed before relying on them for financial decisions.

🧮 How the Projection Is Built

FinyxFin starts from the combined balance of your active accounts today, then applies every active scheduled item — recurring bills, income, and transfers — in date order through the end of your selected horizon. Each event nudges the running balance up or down, and the result is plotted as the projected balance line.

Input How It's Used
Active Accounts Current balances are summed as the starting point. Closed or hidden accounts are excluded.
Scheduled Bills Recurring bills reduce the projected balance on their upcoming due dates.
Scheduled Income Recurring income (salary, etc.) increases the projected balance on its expected dates.
Scheduled Transfers Recurring transfers between your own accounts are included where they affect the accounts in scope.
âš ī¸ Only Scheduled Items Are Included

One-off spending you haven't entered as a scheduled item won't appear in the projection — this is a forward look at what's already on your schedule, not a prediction of every future purchase.

đŸ—“ī¸ Choosing a Horizon

Use the horizon picker at the top of the screen to change how far ahead the projection looks:

  • 30 Days
  • 60 Days
  • 90 Days (default)
  • 6 Months

Switching horizons instantly recalculates the chart, the Today / Projected / Lowest Point summary cards, and the Upcoming list — no need to reload the screen.

📊 Summary Cards

Card What It Shows
Today Your combined active account balance right now
Projected Your estimated balance at the end of the selected horizon
Lowest Point The lowest the projection dips to within the window, and the date it happens — shown in red if it goes negative

✨ AI Outlook

On devices with Apple Intelligence, Cash Flow Forecast adds an AI Outlook card below the chart — a short, plain-language summary of what's driving your projection and when your balance is lowest, generated on-device from your forecast data.

Respects Your AI Toggle

Turning off "Enable AI Insights" in Settings hides this card immediately

â„šī¸ When You Won't See It

The AI Outlook card is skipped entirely — not shown as an error — when: your device doesn't support Apple Intelligence, "Enable AI Insights" is off in Settings, or there isn't enough forecast data yet (e.g. no scheduled items in the window) to say anything meaningful. Everything else on the screen (chart, summary cards, upcoming events) works exactly the same either way.

Every AI Outlook response carries a disclaimer reminding you it's a summary, not financial advice — review it against your own judgment before acting on it.

🔍 Upcoming Events

Below the chart, the Upcoming list shows every bill, income, and transfer that falls within your selected horizon, in date order, with its name, date, and amount (income and incoming transfers in green). This is the same data driving the chart — if a number in the projection looks off, this list is where to check what's contributing to it.

If nothing is scheduled in the window, you'll see "No upcoming bills, income, or transfers in this window" instead.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Cash Flow Forecast include one-off transactions I haven't scheduled?
No. It projects forward using your active accounts' current balances plus your recurring/scheduled bills, income, and transfers. Ad-hoc spending you haven't entered as a scheduled item isn't part of the projection.
Q: Why don't I see the AI Outlook card?
It only appears on devices with Apple Intelligence, with "Enable AI Insights" turned on in Settings, and once there's enough scheduled data in your chosen window to summarize. If any of those isn't true, the rest of the forecast screen still works normally — you just won't see that card.
Q: Can I change what counts toward the forecast?
The forecast is built automatically from your active accounts and scheduled items — there's no separate include/exclude toggle. To change the projection, add, edit, or archive the relevant scheduled bill, income, or transfer, or mark an account inactive/hidden if it shouldn't be counted.
Q: Does this screen ever modify my data?
No. Cash Flow Forecast is entirely read-only — it never creates, edits, or deletes accounts, transactions, or scheduled items.
Q: Where do I find Cash Flow Forecast in the app?
On iPhone, open the Plan tab and tap the Cash Flow Forecast card. On iPad and Mac, it's in the sidebar under the Plan section.
