FinyxFin automatically backs up your financial data to protect against data loss. Whether you accidentally delete something, switch to a new device, or experience a technical issue β your data can typically be recovered.

Automatic Backups
FinyxFin creates backups automatically in these situations:
- Daily: Once every 24 hours when you open the app
- Before Restore: Safety backup created before any restore operation
- Before Premium Transitions: When upgrading or downgrading subscription
- Before Data Reset: Final backup before deleting all data
Automatic Cleanup
To prevent backups from filling up your storage:
- Only the 10 most recent backups are kept in each location
- Older backups are automatically deleted when new ones are created
- Cleanup happens separately for local and iCloud storage
- You typically have at least 10 days of backup history

Backup dates are stored in the filename itself (e.g., 2025-01-10T15-30-45.sqlite), ensuring accurate timestamps even after file operations or iCloud sync.

π Restoring from a Backup
Need to recover your data? Follow these steps:

Restoring a backup will replace ALL current data. A safety backup of your current data is created automatically before the restore.

Tap on a backup from the list. Backups show date, time, size, and location (device or iCloud)

Your backups never leave your control. They're stored only on YOUR device and optionally in YOUR iCloud Drive. We never see or access your backup data.

Q: How often are automatic backups created?

Q: How many backups are kept?
FinyxFin keeps the 10 most recent backups in each storage location (local device and iCloud Drive). Older backups are automatically deleted to save space. This gives you roughly 10+ days of backup history.
Q: How much space do backups use?

Local backups stored on your device will be deleted with the app. However, backups in iCloud Drive remain even after app deletion. We recommend keeping iCloud Drive enabled for this extra protection.
Q: Can I restore on a new device?
Yes! If iCloud Drive is enabled, your backups will automatically appear on your new device. Alternatively, export a backup to iCloud Drive or use AirDrop to transfer the file manually.
Q: Are backups secure?
Absolutely! All local backups are encrypted using iOS's built-in encryption. iCloud Drive backups are protected by Apple's end-to-end encryption when Advanced Data Protection is enabled.
Q: Will restoring affect my Premium subscription?
No. Your Premium subscription is linked to your Apple ID, not your data. Restoring a backup won't affect your subscription status.
Q: Why do some backups show "iCloud" location?
FinyxFin stores backups in both locations simultaneously. The "iCloud" badge indicates the backup is synced to iCloud Drive and accessible from other devices.
Q: Do backups work offline?
Yes! Creating and restoring local backups works completely offline. Only iCloud sync requires internet connectivity.
